Jill M. de Cuba

Jill de Cuba has a rich and diverse background in the world of law. She pursued her legal education at the University of Aruba, obtaining her master’s degree in Aruba Law in 2004. Following her studies, she began her professional journey as an attorney-at-law at HBN Law in Aruba, where she advised and litigated on behalf of clients across various industries, including banking, telecommunications, commerce, and the hospitality sector. She was also entrusted with the role of trustee in insolvency and acted as a local representative in intellectual property affairs. Jill also worked at the Curacao office of HBN Law for a number of years.
Since 2009 Jill assumed the position of senior lawyer at Pels Rijcken & Droogleever Fortuin in The Hague, the Netherlands, expanding her expertise in corporate and contract law matters. She also worked at the Cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba in the Netherlands, where she provided legal advice on matters concerning the country of Aruba. While in the Netherlands, she obtained a master’s degree in Netherlands Private Law from the highly regarded Erasmus University of Rotterdam.
Following her studies in Rotterdam and in pursuit of a truly global perspective on law, Jill attended a summer program in International Commercial Contracts at the University of Bologna in Italy, the world’s oldest university. She also participated in the Executive Education Program in Drafting and Interpreting International Commercial Contracts at the IE Law School in Madrid, Spain. In 2011, she returned to her professional roots as an attorney at HBN Law, serving the offices in Aruba and Curacao. In 2014, she started her firm, De Cuba Legal.
Jill has an affinity with languages, and she is fluent in Dutch, English, Papiamento, and Spanish. Joining forces in 2020 with Rep Law under the name Rep De Cuba, Jill continues to navigate a steady course in the legal world, employing knowledge and expertise at the service of her clients.
